Studying pharmacy abroad had always been a dream of mine, and when the opportunity arose through the Erasmus+ program, I knew I had to make the most of it. I chose Bydgoszcz for its unique charm and affordability, combined with the fact that Nicolaus Copernicus University offered pharmacy courses in English—a crucial factor for me. The city's picturesque old town, serene parks, and welcoming atmosphere made it an ideal place to focus on both academic and personal growth.
My academic journey in Bydgoszcz was both enriching and rewarding. The courses I took—Bromatology, Pharmacotherapy, Pathophysiology, and various electives—expanded my knowledge and skills in ways I hadn’t anticipated. The quality of education, coupled with the supportive faculty, made each day of learning a memorable experience.
Beyond academics, living in Poland opened the door to unforgettable cultural experiences. Bydgoszcz quickly felt like home, thanks to the warm community and the close-knit group of Erasmus+ students who became like family. Our Thursday night gatherings, filled with laughter and music, were a weekly tradition that I cherished. We explored Bydgoszcz, Gdańsk, and other Polish cities like Warsaw, Kraków, and Poznań. Each city offered a unique blend of history, culture, and adventure.
My travels didn’t stop at Poland’s borders. March took me to Denmark and Sweden, where the cold weather was a stark contrast to what I was used to. My Turkish friends and I joked about turning into snowmen as we wandered through Copenhagen, Gothenburg, and Stockholm. A 9-day whirlwind trip through Paris, Brussels, Ghent, Amsterdam, Dortmund, and Berlin added even more unforgettable moments to my journey. Italy, however, stood out as my favorite destination—Naples, Rome, Florence, Portofino, and Venice were as much a culinary adventure as they were a cultural one. Despite the financial challenges, every experience was worth it.
My time in Poland was transformative. I learned to navigate different cultures, became more self-reliant, and built friendships that will last a lifetime. The experience broadened my perspective, both personally and professionally, equipping me with skills that will benefit me in the future.Our final day together was particularly emotional. We bought white t-shirts and drew the Bydgoszcz symbol on them, signing each other's shirts with our names and countries as a keepsake. That night, filled with photos, laughter, and tears, marked the end of an incredible chapter in my life.
